Year 2009.Thursday. Right after cabinet session.
The Prime Minister is calling Eesti Energia:
“You know, Sandor, we discussed the matter in cabinet
and decided that, in order to cut back on spending,
you should switch off the light at the end of the tunnel!”

Dear entrepreneur!
In 2009 global economy will be shaking in a crisis, which is considered most devastating after the great depression. Governments have thrown 7.7 trillion dollars into financial system in order to avoid the worst. The amount of aid the United States alone has given to boost the economy far surpasses the total costs Americans covered for participating in the Second World War and the Vietnam War.

In a war small countries like Estonia usually suffer the heaviest losses. The Baltics is no exception this time either. Citigroup Global Markets has predicted the economic crisis in the Baltics to last almost two years, during which the GDP will decrease up to 15 %. It is obvious that in 2009 only the strongest will remain standing. Those who still see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The Economic Forum “Kite Fly 2009” is concentrating this time on the diagnosis, treatment and revival.

Among others, the following speakers will appear: Senior Economist of the OECD Annabelle Mourougane, Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Juhan Parts, member of the Parliament Taavi Veskimägi, Vice President of the Bank of Estonia Andres Sutt, chairman of the board of Estonian Development Fund Ott Pärna, entrepreneurs Bo Henriksson, Sandor Liive, Vahur Kraft, Valdo Kalm, Enn Veskimägi and Veikko Maripuu; and legendary Henrik Hololei.

The Conference is inaugurated by President Toomas Hendrik Ilves.

“Kite Fly 2009” takes place on February 13th, in the Conference Center of Swisshôtel.
